James LaRue Avery, fully named, was born on November 27, 1945 in Pughsville, Virginia. His career in the entertainment industry spanned from 1980 to 2013. He is most renowned for his role as Judge Philip Banks in the TV series “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (1990 – 1996) and also played Alonzo Sparks in “Sparks” (1996 – 1998), among other significant roles. Apart from TV, Avery was involved in various big-screen productions and voice-overs.
