Anthony Dean Rapp was born on October 26, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois USA. He is known for his role as Mark Cohen in the musical “Rent” on Broadway in 1996, and later for the same role in the musical film release. He also portrayed Charlie Brown in the Broadway production of the musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” (1999). Rapp has been active in the entertainment industry since 1981.

Anthony was raised by his mother Mary Lee Rapp, who worked as a nurse as his parents divorced when the boy was two years old. He was educated at Joliet West High School in the small town of Joliet, with his brother Adam, who is a novelist and filmmaker.

Concerning his professional career, he first appeared on Broadway at the age of 10 in “The Little Prince and the Aviator”, based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “Little Prince”, but it was closed before full release. Then Anthony was cast in the musical “Precious Sons” (1986) for which he won an Outer Critics Circle Award.

In 1987, Rapp appeared in the movie “Adventures in Babysitting” directed by Chris Columbus, but really rose to fame after he played the main role in the coming of age comedy film “Dazed and Confused” (1993) by Richard Linklater, which was included on the list of the 10 best films of all time by Quentin Tarantino.
