Burna Boy Achieves Historic Milestone as First African Artist with UK Number 1 Album
In a groundbreaking achievement, Nigerian singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, has become the first-ever African artist to reach the top of the UK albums chart with his album “I Told Them.”
The Official Charts Company confirmed on Friday that Burna Boy’s seventh studio album debuted at number 1 this week on the UK albums chart.
In recognition of his record-breaking achievement, Burna Boy was awarded a plaque by the British record chart company.
The company tweeted, “He told them! @burnaboy makes UK chart HISTORY today as he claims his first Number 1 album.”
Bursting with excitement, Burna Boy responded to the tweet, saying, “Let’s Have It! #ITOLDTHEM #ITOLDTHEMNUMBER1.”
This major accomplishment comes after Burna Boy’s previous two albums, “Twice As Tall” and “Love Damini,” peaked at Number 2 on the UK albums chart.
