Cameraman hubby ditches Seven reporter Rahni Sadler

IT may be a tad uncomfortable around the news department for two female Channel 7 reporters, one of whom is dealing with a marriage breakdown and the other with a new boyfriend.

Recently returned Los Angeles correspondent Rahni Sadleris nursing a broken heart after splitting with her cameraman husband Trent Miller less than 12 months after their wedding.

Confidential has been told that Miller is now seeing Rebecca Maddern, one of Sadler's colleagues who works on the Sunday Night program.

Melbourne-based Maddern, who regularly reads the 4.30pm national news bulletin, was last year sent on a job to LA, where Sadler and Miller both lived and worked.

"Trent left Rahni before Christmas," a source said.

Sadler recently returned from the LA bureau to take up a full-time position on Sunday Night.

The show's executive producerMark Llewellyn last night confirmed Sadler's split. "Of course it is a difficult time for Rahni, but she is a strong person and she has our full support," he said. "She is on assignment at the moment in Europe."

A network spokeswoman said Maddern was in Melbourne on general newsroom duties while Miller, once a Seven employee, was now freelancing.

Sadler is regarded as one of the best young operators at Seven, particularly impressing with her live reporting during the US presidential election campaign.

But she had managed to keep news of her split with Miller quiet having only married in December 2008.

"I had no idea," one surprised senior colleague said when told by Sydney Confidential yesterday.
