Former NFL player Sergio Brown missing as his 73-year-old mum is found murdered

The former NFL player, Sergio Brown, has been reported missing following the tragic discovery of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, who was found murdered near her home. Relatives of the 35-year-old football star informed authorities in Illinois that they had been unable to reach either Sergio or his mother on September 16.

A search commenced for the mother and son, leading to the devastating discovery of Myrtle Brown’s lifeless body near a creek behind their home. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office declared it a homicide, citing multiple injuries consistent with an assault as the cause of her death on September 17.

Sheila Simmons, the victim’s sister, disclosed to WGN-TV that she had spoken to Brown just two days before she went missing and was alarmed when she was unable to contact her on the following Saturday. Concerned about the unusual lack of response, she stated, “We’re going to find out what happened because it’s not normal for my sister to not answer her phone, not to respond to text messages.”

Sergio’s brother, Nick Brown, took to Facebook to implore his sibling, the former NFL star, to come home, expressing his love and concern.
