Fugitive inadvertently assists in his own arrest after engaging with police ‘most wanted’ post
An individual from Georgia ended up aiding law enforcement in his own arrest by commenting on the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.
The sheriff’s department, situated east of Atlanta, shared their November “Most Wanted List” on Facebook.
Christopher Spaulding, who was being sought by the police, noticed he was not included in the list posted on Facebook.
Feeling slighted, he decided to voice his grievance by commenting on the Facebook post.
Using his personal Facebook account, Spaulding inquired, “How about me?”
The department promptly responded on Thursday, Dec 1, stating, “you are correct you have two warrants, we are on the way.”
Later the same day, Rockdale police updated that Spaulding, clad in a red Georgia Bulldogs hoodie and hat, had been apprehended and placed in handcuffs.
The 40-year-old was wanted for Felony Violation of Probation, according to police.
“We appreciate you for your assistance in your capture!” the department expressed in the post.
Following Spaulding’s arrest, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office reminded wanted fugitives that not being featured on the “Most Wanted List” doesn’t exempt them from arrest.
“Our Top 10 is compiled based off of the severity of the charges only. By not being on this list does not mean our Fugitive Unit is not looking for you if you have an active warrant,” the department clarified.
