"Having to sleep with an 80-year-old, there’s a price" Crystal Hefner says life with Hugh Hefner was no ‘fantasy’
Crystal Hefner, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, reflects on her relationship with him seven years after his passing. At the age of 21, she entered into a relationship with Hefner and eventually married him in 2012. Her new memoir, “Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself,” provides insights into her life at the Playboy Mansion and her marriage to Hefner.
In an interview with People, Crystal admitted that she was never truly in love with Hefner and felt that she had lost herself in the process of trying to please him. Despite initially accepting Hefner’s proposal, she later broke off the engagement, only to reconcile and marry him in 2012.
Crystal revealed the power imbalance in her relationship with Hefner, describing the restrictive lifestyle at the mansion and the pressures to conform to his standards of beauty. She also shared her decision to name her book “Only Say Good Things,” explaining that it is about healing from a toxic environment.
In her memoir, Crystal also discussed Hefner’s use of Viagra until the end of his life, which eventually resulted in him losing hearing in one ear.
