Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Landers spent most of her time growing up in Rockland County, New York. Her mother is Ruth Landers and she also has an older sister, Audrey Landers, who is also an actress.

Landers studied at American Academy of Dramatic Arts and also later attended Warred Robertson Dramatic Training school to improve her acting skills. She also trained at the Juilliard School of Music.

Landers’ career began in the late ‘70s playing various characters, but she became most known for her comedy films where she played mostly naïve characters.
