Lionel Messi Addresses Speculations on His Relationship with Kylian Mbappe After World Cup Victory
In a recent interview, Lionel Messi affirmed that Argentina’s World Cup win against France hasn’t affected his rapport with PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe, who experienced disappointment as his team failed to retain the title in Qatar, witnessed Messi finally lifting the coveted trophy.
Questions arose about the impact of the final on the relationship between the two PSG players, especially after goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez taunted Mbappe in the Argentina dressing room.
During a celebratory bus tour in Argentina, Martinez paraded a doll of Mbappe, while standing next to Messi, who seemingly took no issue with his teammate’s actions.
Messi, in a recent interview with Argentine outlet Ole, dismissed any speculation of discord between him and Mbappe, stating, ‘Yes, we talked about the game, how people living in Argentina celebrated in those days, that I had been on vacation and the festivities we had. And nothing, nothing more – but good, really good.’
He also expressed understanding of the pain Mbappe is going through, having experienced a World Cup final loss himself in 2014, adding, ‘That’s why I don’t want to talk about it either. But the truth is that there is no problem with Kylian, quite the opposite.’
