President Joe Biden's Support for Puberty Blockers and Condemnation of Republican States Banning Gender Reassignment Surgeries for Children
US President, Joe Biden opposes state regulations on sex change surgeries or treatments.
During an interview with a transgender TikTok star, Biden criticized Republican states for attempting to restrict sex change surgeries and transition treatments, such as hormone blockers, for non-binary or transgender children.
Biden voiced his opinion during a NowThis News presidential forum where he engaged with a panel of six activists, including TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, who is documenting their transition from male to transgender female.
He expressed his belief that states should not have the authority to regulate healthcare related to transgender transitioning.
When asked about the right of red states to pass laws restricting access to gender-affirming treatments, Biden responded, “I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that.”
He added, “As a moral and legal issue, I just think it’s wrong,” emphasizing the importance of individuals having the right to access gender-affirming treatments without state interference.
Biden strongly condemned laws in Alabama, Arkansas, Texas, and Arizona that restrict youth access to sex change treatments and surgeries, with penalties imposed on adults facilitating access to such care.
Republicans advocating for legislation to regulate gender-affirming surgeries and treatments in minors argue that these procedures could have irreversible effects.
In advocating for the rights of all individuals, Biden emphasized the immorality of the actions taken by some states and underscored the importance of advocating for the fundamental rights of all human beings.
During a dialogue with Dylan Mulvaney, Biden highlighted the importance of public figures supporting the transgender community and the need for a shift in societal perspectives.
