Henry Ross Perot, born on the 27th June 1930, in Texarkana, Texas USA, was an American entrepreneur and businessman, known for founding Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and Perot System. He also had a political career, running as an Independent Party Candidate in the 1992 and 1996 US Presidential elections. His career spanned from 1957.

Ross Perot was raised in Texas, the son of Gabriel Ross Perot, a cotton broker, and Lula May Perot. After attending Texarkana Junior College and the United States Naval Academy, he volunteered at the Boy Scouts of America and received the Award of Distinguished Eagle Scout. He served in The US Navy until 1957.
In 1957, Perot started his business career as a salesman at IBM. Despite not receiving attention for his ideas, he left and founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in 1962, which experienced significant growth after securing government contracts. He sold the company to General Motors in 1984 and later founded Perot Systems, eventually selling it to Dell for a value close to $4 billion in 2009.
Aside from business, Perot is known for his political endeavors. He ran as an independent candidate in the 1992 Presidential elections, securing 19% of the votes. He tried again in 1996, and later endorsed a Republican Party Presidential candidate in 2012. Post-2000, he retired and his son Ross Jr. took over company operations.
During his retirement, he authored several books including “Ross Perot: My Life & The Principles for Success” (2002) and “Ross Perot: My Life” (2013).
Ross Perot married Margot Birmingham in 1956 and they have five children.
