Thandiwe Newton’s Response to Separation from Husband Ol Parker
Following her reported split from her husband of 24 years, Ol Parker, Thandiwe Newton has broken her silence.
The 49-year-old actress shared a cryptic message on her Instagram Stories alongside a picture of a white strappy dress.
The dress, designed by Zoe Buckman, was embroidered with the words: ‘Do we hate our women’, taken from the late Tupac Shakur’s song Keep Ya Head Up (1993). It also featured the lyrics: ‘I wonder why we take from our women. Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?’
Thandiwe’s now-deleted post comes amid rumors of her separation from Ol Parker and plans to seek mental health support through rehab.
These reports surfaced shortly after her denial of claims suggesting she was removed from her leading role in Magic Mike 3 after a disagreement with co-star Channing Tatum. She has been replaced in the role by Salma Hayek.
According to a new report by Page Six, concerns were raised about Thandiwe’s health during filming in London, with her agent flying in from Los Angeles to address the situation.
The publication also highlighted Thandiwe’s emotional and family struggles following her separation from her 52-year-old husband, with whom she shares three children – Ripley, 21, Nico, 17, and Booker, eight.
A source revealed that her behavior on set disrupted the production to the extent that she could no longer continue with her role. The source also mentioned Thandiwe’s personal challenges and her decision to bring her pet rabbits to her hotel for emotional support.
Warner Bros. Pictures announced her departure from the movie, stating that it was due to family matters. Meanwhile, Thandiwe reportedly dismissed her UK-based agent of three decades when her US agent, Gaby Morgerman, intervened to provide assistance.
In recent weeks, Thandiwe has also parted ways with her UK team at London-based agency Independent Talent Group. Her team is reportedly urging her to consider seeking mental health support through rehab, with plans being made for her to attend a facility in Arizona if she agrees to go.
