Tragic News: DJ Sumbody, Renowned Amapiano Hitmaker, Shot Dead in South Africa
Sadly, the music community has lost a talented soul. DJ Sumbody, a popular South African Music Producer and Amapiano hitmaker, has passed away.
Tragedy struck in the early hours of Sunday, November 20, in Johannesburg when the hitmaker was fatally shot.
Reports from local news platforms indicated that DJ Sumbody and his entourage became the targets of unidentified shooters who ambushed their vehicle, unleashing a barrage of bullets upon them on Woodmead Road.
Tragically, both the entertainer and one of his bodyguards lost their lives instantly due to the ferocious attack.
Despite the dire situation, a third individual, believed to be another one of DJ Sumbody’s bodyguards, miraculously survived the onslaught of bullets but remains in critical condition.
Prior to the horrific incident, DJ Sumbody had been slated to perform at the All White Veuve Clicquot Picnic on that very Sunday.
The motive behind this heinous attack on DJ Sumbody and his entourage remains unclear at this time.
Law enforcement in Gauteng has confirmed the incident, with authorities currently on the lookout for suspects and diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting in Woodmead.
In a statement, Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo provided details of the incident:
“Upon receiving reports of a shooting on Woodmead Drive at approximately 12.30am, police discovered two individuals inside a VW Golf suffering from gunshot wounds. Both the driver and the passenger were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
“The third victim, reportedly driving a BMW X5, was rushed to the nearest medical facility after sustaining gunshot wounds.
“Gauteng acting provincial commissioner Major-General Tommy Mthombeni has allocated substantial resources to track down those responsible for this reprehensible shooting.
“Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects to come forward by reaching out to the crime stop number or reporting to the nearest police station. Information can also be shared anonymously via the my SAPS App, available for download on any smartphone.”
