Together with Michael Stipe and Peter Buck, the four formed the band REM in 1980 after moving to Athens, Georgia.
The band gained a considerable reputation in its early years, but the breakthrough to the general public came with the 1991 album “Out Of Time,” which produced well-known hits like “Losing My Religion” and “Shiny Happy People.” The 1992 album “Automatic for the People” and the 1994 album “Sample” also significantly contributed to the band’s net worth and popularity as they topped charts in various countries.
